Shrimp in Cheese Sauce Serve with Pena Noodles

There are a few tricks to make shrimp in cheese sauce serve with Pena noodles a true hit.  For me the trick is to not over cook the shrimp or the noodles.  All the instructions tell you to cook the noodles to the right state of “al denta”.  I have found that 9 to 10 minutes is about the right time.  After all the noodles will keep cooking with the sauce and all the other items. So don’t over cook the noodles.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Shrimp peeled and tailed
  • 1/2 Yellow Onion sliced
  • 6 mushrooms sliced
  • 6 Baby bell peppers sliced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 pk garlic herd cheese sauce
  • 1 1/2 cup mike for sauce
  • 1 cup Pena noodles
  • 2 pats butter , one for the sauce and the second for the vegetables

Instructions

Do your slicing and dicing first. Place them in a saute pan and slowly cook them.

After about 5 minutes, start your noodle water, remember the oil and salt for the water.

Start the cheese sauce too.

Cook the noodle for 9 minutes total.

Place the shrimp in with the mushrooms and other vegetables during the last 5 minutes of the noodles cooking. When the noodles are done strain them and add the sauce to them.

I like to keep the noodles and the sauce separated from the shrimp and vegetables for portion control and so they don’t get overwhelmed with the cheese sauce.

Serve up some French bread with butter and your done!
