The making of a great  grilled ham and cheese sandwich,

I prefer using Mayonnaise to butter on the breads outside that is placed in the pan, I think it browns up much nicer and the sandwich isn’t soggy from the extra fat and oil.  Now the reason for splitting the ham and putting it on the bread sides and the cheese in the center is to give the ham enough time to heat before the cheese melts and the bread get to done.
