Meatloaf

My Best Meatloaf

My Best Meatloaf and why I think so.

I think the best part of meatloaf is the leftovers for sandwiches, with the right shaped loaf you can make the best sandwich in the world.

Some of the key factors is not over doing the bread, some bread is okay as a filler and to lighten up the loaf but it is just a turn off biting into a soggy hunk of bread. The mixture of pork and the ground beef makes a good mix.  The nice thing about meatloaf is you can petty much do what you want with it, add or subtract item.

My Best Meat Loaf

Mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables finish this off so well. I hope you like what you have read and will give it it a try.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb ground chuck
  • 1/2 lb ground pork (sausage plain)
  • 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup bread cubes
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1 egg
  • 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 good pinch of salt
  • 2 pinches ground black pepper
  • 1 package McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Steak Marinade
  • 2 slices bacon
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup

Instructions

Start with the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl

Add the wet stuff but not the meat or the ketchup. This is important.

Add the egg to the mix and give it a good stir to get the party started in the bowl.

Let the mixture sit for 15 to 20 minutes. If it is hot out place it in the refrigerator.

Par cook the bacon, this is to get rid of some of the extra fat and to let the bacon crisp up a little

Add the Pork first and work it in by hand, then add the Ground Chuck.

After mixing thoroughly cover and let sit in the refrigerator for a good half hour or so. Up to an hour is good.

Form your load to the size you like.Either in a loaf pan or by forming it by hand.

Place the bacon on top of your loaf

Spread the ketchup on top after 30 minutes of cooking

Bake in a per-heated oven @350 degrees for an hour to an hour and 15 minutes.

I have tried a variety of different mixes in my meatloaf’s just to keep thing on a learning curve and the family guessing what the surprise mystery meat has in it.

All over the planet there is some form of meatloaf so keep you eyes open when you travel for some recipe to bring home with you to try.
